Fabricator

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking an individual with proven skills in metal fabrication that include aluminum, MIG and TIG welding. This position is responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacturing products from engineered drawings, specifications, and other forms of documentation. This is a fast-paced position and requires a high regard for safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret mechanical drawings and sketches, including weld symbols
  • Lay out parts, measure, and weld components
  • MIG and/or TIG boats and components based on engineering documentation
  • Safely operate large hull fixtures and overhead hoists
  • Use a variety of tools including band saws, miter saws, belt sanders, grinders, and others
  • Must perform general cleaning and maintenance of welding equipment
  • Will be responsible for keeping work area clean and safe
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in aluminum welding desired
  • Working knowledge of set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.) for weld machines
  • Special consideration for individuals with forklift experience

Compensation:

  • This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company

Fabricator Helper

Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to assist our Fabricators in the Metal Fabrication department. This is a transitional position meant for those who want to become Fabricators in our facility. On the job training includes production flow, safety, measuring, reading engineering documents, power tool handling, and aluminum MIG and TIG welding. This is a fast-paced position and requires a high regard for safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Unload carts, manage and prep parts for Fabricators
  • Wire wheel, buff, grind, and clean welds and components
  • Perform entry level MIG and TIG welds
  • Learn the construction of our boats by helping mark, and lay out parts
  • Assist in loading bottoms, sides, and other large components on our fixtures
  • Assist in the safe operation of fixtures and overhead hoists
  • Use a variety of tools including band saws, miter saws, belt sanders, grinders, and others
  • Must perform general cleaning and maintenance of welding equipment

Experienced Warehouse Worker

Hewes Marine Company Inc. is seeking a full-time Warehouse Worker to support Warehouse functions at our growing boat manufacturing company in Colville, WA.  This position performs receiving, stocking, inventory control, and other general warehouse functions.  This position reports directly to the Materials Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Unload freight from trucks and common carriers.
  • Complete receiving paperwork accurately.
  • Stock shelves.
  • Complete accurate inventory counts.
  • Distribute materials to appropriate departments.
  • Operate forklifts, hand trucks, overhead cranes, vehicles, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Organize and clean warehouse.
  • Complete all assignments as directed and in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals as set by department Lead and/or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years receiving, stocking, and distributing inventory
  • 3 years forklift operation experience (must pass written test and certify within 2 weeks of hire)
  • Experience driving non-CDL truck and trailer preferred
  • Experience operating overhead crane preferred
  • Ability to learn and become efficient at new task
  • Experience completing data entry on computers preferred
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with no restrictions

This position is a full-time, Monday–Friday, hourly position.  Standard hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30PM.  Overtime is required as needed.  Scheduled weekend work may be required.  The wage for the position depends on experience.  HMC offers an excellent benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as accrued paid leave, and paid holidays.

Class-A CDL Driver (Part Time or Full Time)

D&B Transport, a trucking company located in scenic Colville, Washington, is seeking a full-time commercially licensed driver to ship boats for Hewes Marine Company, Inc.—maker of Hewescraft boats.  Key responsibilities of this position are the safe operation of trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds GVWR while delivering boats over intercity and interstate routes.

The responsibilities for this Driver position include the following:

  • Load, transport, deliver, and unload boats, motors, and trailers with safety as the highest priority.
  • Drive long distances throughout the Pacific Northwest U.S., and Central/Western Canada.
  • Serve as a brand advocate and customer service representative in interactions with dealers and public.
  • Inspect vehicles and trailers before and after trips and log any defects or safety concerns.
  • Manage driving routes and delivery routines so they proceed efficiently and safely.
  • Complete ELD logs, vehicle inspection/maintenance reports, and other trip reports as required.
  • Comply with all DOT and company safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Shipping Supervisor.

 

The following education, experience, and skills are required to be considered for this Driver position:

Sales Administrator

Hewes Marine Company, the maker of Hewescraft boats, is seeking a Sales Administrator who will (under the direction of the Marketing/Sales Manager) develop customer relationships with Hewescraft dealers; generate, receive, and process boat, engine, and trailer orders; manage customer calls, and support the outside sales efforts of the Pacific Northwest’s #1 boat builder.

Sales Administrator responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure excellent communication and relationship building with dealer locations in the Pacific Northwest U.S. with the goal of generating consistent Hewescraft boat production orders.
  • Contact dealers on a regular basis to ensure order accuracy, obtain missing information, and answer questions with a high level of customer service.
  • Receive and process error-free boat, motor, and trailer manufacturing orders based on dealer specs.
  • Accurately communicate dealer order details to the production floor to ensure correct construction and completion of each boat order.
  • Accurately process outboard engine orders from order receipt through order entry, purchase order creation, delivery, and billing.
  • Inventory, track, and ensure motor delivery to internal departments as well as dealer locations.
  • Cross-train with other sales staff to ensure full task coverage throughout the department.
  • Occasionally represent Hewes Marine Company at boat shows throughout the U.S. and Canada.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Sales Supervisor.

 

The following education, experience, and skills are required to be considered for the Sales Administrator position:

  • AS/AA (2-year degree) in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in sales positions

Hewes Marine Company is seeking a Human Resource Supervisor. This position requires someone that can perform confidential Human Resource related functions. Their duties include overseeing the recruitment process, planning and implementation of staff training programs while ensuring that employees follow best practices and company policies. The Human Resource Supervisor reports directly to the Human Resource Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development and implementation of various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees
  • Maintain Human Resource and other employment records.
  • Ensure that Human Resource actions are documented to include completion of appropriate forms and reports
  • Coordinates the recruitment, personnel selection, and employee onboarding process
  • Management of the company’s appraisal system to include conducting appraisal meetings
  • Ensure that company procedures comply with employment regulations
  • Manage, develop and training of the HR team
  • Monitoring various aspects of an employee’s performance, such as attendance and sick leave

Manufacturing – Production Assembler

Northwest Applied Marine has a temporary entry level production position open to support the assembly and manufacture of electrical assemblies.  The opening is from June 6, 2022 – August 26th, 2022.  The weekly schedule will be from Monday – Thursday 6:00 am to 3:30 pm (36 hours per week) with Fridays off.  This position will primarily be to cut/prep/organize wires and subassemblies used in the manufacture of electrical harnesses.  This position reports to the Production Lead.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Read and understand basic assembly schematics, charts and tables, work instructions to kit/organize parts, cut wire, assemble electrical assemblies, panels and harnesses.
  • Effectively perform work responsibilities, sometimes with little supervision.
  • Apply the correct tools and methods for crimping (electrical and mechanical connection) wires to terminals as part of assembly
  • Operating various hand tools properly and effectively including hand strippers, crimpers, wire cutters, screw guns, and other various hand tools as required.
  • Operate tools and equipment, including automatic wire Cut & Strip machines, and semi-automatic crimping machines.
  • Record time on work orders.
  • Communicate directly with colleagues, ask questions for clarity and provide feedback to fellow team members.
  • Adherence to all company policies and Health and Safety rules and regulations during their shift
  • Maintain a safe workplace by practicing good housekeeping standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities reducing costs, improving safety, quality and efficiency.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 18 years or older required.
  • No experience required. 2 years of working experience in hand-assembly operations preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communications
  • Willingness to learn new skills, team-centric mentality and mutual respect for others.
