Hewes Marine Company is proud to be a participant in the Avista Solar Select program. Avista has been focused on environmentally sustainable practices for the majority of its 130-year history. The Solar Select® program provides commercial and industrial electric customers in Washington with the opportunity to acquire solar electricity and the associated Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) with no additional costs. The project was built and developed as a part of the growing demand from large business customers, and both state and federal incentives were used to bring down the cost for the 60 customer participants. The project was so successful that it sold out in less than a day and is currently on a waitlist.

Over the past 6 years, the Solar Select Program represented more than 244 million kilowatt hours of clean, renewable solar energy to Hewes Marine Company and 56 other business customers. The overall Solar Select Program results for 2024 totaled 40,075 renewable energy credits. This energy could power 4,716 homes for one year. Hewes Marine’s individual contributions indicated savings of 1,084 thousand kilowatt hours of renewable energy. This is the equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions of 2,000,966 miles driven or 183 passenger vehicles driven for a whole year.
Hewes Marine is committed to participating with other businesses to make a positive difference. We are happy to be part of the Solar Select program and support efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the utilization of renewable (solar) energy.
