Jayleen’s Alaska offers personalized whale-watching tours in Juneau, Alaska, led by Captain Jayleen, a seasoned mariner with 20 years of experience in the industry. Growing up on a remote island near Juneau, Jayleen began her maritime journey at the age of 12, assisting on her father’s whale-watching boats. By 18, she had earned her U.S. Coast Guard 50-ton license and was captaining tours by 19. Her early immersion in the trade inspired her to establish her own company, aiming to provide an intimate and educational experience showcasing Alaska’s lesser-seen sides.
The fleet includes four Hewescraft vessels, each tailored for small-group experiences:
- Merlin: A 26-foot Hewescraft Alaskan Sea Runner. This boat has been a whale-watching boat for its whole life; originally purchased by Jay Beedle (Jayleen’s dad) in 2004 for his business, this boat is still as sturdy & reliable as it was on day one!
- Island Girl: A 26-foot Hewescraft Alaskan, built-in 2017. Captains relate this boat to driving a sports car; smooth & easy, Island Girl is ready for any adventure!
- Salty Girl: A custom-built 27-foot Hewescraft Alaskan manufactured in 2020. Jayleen’s first 27′ addition to the fleet & these boats are tanks! Truly ready for any storm or situation thrown at them Jayleen’s fell in love with this design!
- Glacier Girl: A brand new 27-foot Hewescraft Alaskan manufactured in 2025 – Hewescraft built this boat specifically to Jayleen’s desired design; the sister boat to Salty Girl – this boat is the perfect addition to the fleet!
All boats feature an open bow area, ample back deck space, large windows, and a small marine bathroom.
